For their debut release, Ekhidna demonstrate both their dark and emotional sides. The title track, Trips, is a thunderous, rhythm exploration that restlessly switches through various modes. Slow gives way to fast as kick drums cycle through halftime, double time, and triplets beneath affected vocals and randomised percs.
Track 2, Motherboard, offers some relief as warm synth and vocal melodies intertwine and build to a washed-out finish.
